Letters from students abroad

Wales 2001
For 3 months I have had to cope with a foreign language, new people, different cultures and an entirely new school system. I also had to learn to be independent and do things for myself.
It didn't take me long to settle in as a lot of people were soon introduced to me and everyone was very nice and welcoming.
The boarding house is brilliant because you are constantly surrounded by friends who are more than willing to help with homework and general problems.
Doing subjects in a different language was difficult at the beginning but the teachers were really helpful and constantly ready to give out advice.
The British school system is very good as school years don't have to be repeated and the teachers are more likely to help if you are having trouble coping.
The sports facilities here are very good. We have two gyms, a swimming pool, several tennis courts and hockey and lacrosse pitches.
There are also always activities after school which are open to everyone.
I was only supposed to stay until February but I like it so much that I'm not going home till the end of June.
