Trips around the world

UIIb won Year 2000 Berlin Language Contest and Year 2000 National Competition…
In October 1999 class UIIb (10b) decided to participate in the Berlin language contest. After discussing various projects they decided to go on an imagined trip around the world. In 5 groups they wrote diaries about their journeys and handed them in in February 2000. They also wrote sketches about their experiences abroad.

With their diaries and their sketches performed on stage they not only won the 1st prize in the Berlin language contest but also the 1st prize of the student jury in the national competition in Dresden. Congratulations !
Here is what the students did:

We imagined the following situation:
  • All of us have just graduated
  • Our parents have given us quite a lot of money for our graduation
  • We want to do something all of us have dreamed of

So we decided to go on a trip around the world.

  • The trip should last about 3 months.
  • We'd like to see at least 2 different continents.
  • We hope we are going to get to know a lot of people.
  • We also hope that nothing dangerous happens on the way so we'll return home safely.
  • And have a big party where everybody gets together again.

Find out what happened on our exciting journeys and read our diaries:

The Travelling Monks:
Hendrik Ludwig, Thomas Ostapowicz, Philip Scigala, Wolfgang Seeker

The Bad Boys:
Otto Birnbaum, Daniel Leithold

The Continent Cruisers:
Mandana Bahrampour, Jeanne Gaebler, Kristina Kalläne, Katherine Sava

The Convertible Crew:
Luise Biesalski, Lilly Droll, Paul Greschik, Christina Wöber

The Globetrotters:
Anna Busch, Björn Grötzner, Robert Kammel, Rilana Lohmann, Johanna Sommer

The Highway Girls:
Undine Baatz, Melanie Foelz

We also wrote some sketches about the strange things that happened on our way. The first sketch shows 2 boys in a Brazilian disco trying to chat up some girls. In the second sketch 2 girls are kidnapped by dangerous natives. And in the third sketch the mafia is annoyed about the way the Travelling Monks earned their money in Hong Kong.
