School Stories
Every schoolyard has its own rules. We learned that in fifth grade (sexta) as we were new at the school. And now its our turn to teach the younger ones those rules. Every 15 and 20 min. break there are big "fights" among the classes over the two soccer goals. There is about 10 classes "fighting" over the goals every break. The rules say that the person who reaches the goal first gets it. In fifth and sixth grade we had a goal every day, because our class was closest to the soccer field. But over the years we had to change classrooms all the time, and we weren't very lucky with our classrooms: we didn't get to play very often. But now we have the best classroom in the school, we're always first at the goals! Usually we (the bigger ones) get the goals, but the young ones got smarter and have the teachers on their side! An example: The other day we had a goal, but then the small ones came up to us with a teacher and claimed that they were first at the goal. Of course, the teacher told us to leave and let the younger ones play! So we had to leave now that's smart! Well, I guess the schoolyard rules have changed! But today, we are going to get a goal and fight for our right to play!

It was in the summer of 2002, when Mr. Röcker invited me to a triathlon. Mr. Röcker lent me one of his racing bikes. I won the competition, but surely not only because of the bike. By coincidence that same day the "beach soccer cup" took place in the "Strandbad Wannsee". The triathlon was at the Schlachtensee. So after the triathlon I went there. But I played only about 5 minutes all together. So I couldn't prevent that we lost in the first round. But there is no doubt that if I had played longer we would have won!

For three years it's been the same every late winter. In the second or third lesson you can look out of the window of the new building and see a fox. At this time he is sitting in the schoolyard and taking a sun-bath. Of course it's clear that he is a welcome change from boring lessons.

One evening I walked alone through school, the halls were dark, only through the windows a bit light came in. In contrast to the loud talking, laughing and stressed crowd, who filled the school in the mornings, it was quiet now, I could only hear my steps, everything lay in a cold light. It seemed to be a strange, scary building.

In 2002, I think it was autumn, in sports we did the standard box jumping with small jumping boards. That wasn't anything special, but then we had the idea to put the boards under the basketball baskets in order to dunk the balls. No matter if you were small or big, you could dunk the ball in the basket, so we did spectacular jumps and moves after we had put a trampoline behind the jumping-board and a big mattress under the basket. That was great fun.

Girls will our girls ever notice that they still are teenagers and NOT adults yet?! It's a question we, the male group, are occupied with in our "lower-level-talks". Take a look at them: In the breaks and their free time they always run each other down and talk nasty about others, it seems like they will never be able to just at a soccer field and play together. So what is going on in their minds? Is their brain separated in only two parts? One for shopping and one for boys? Would'nt our life be a lot more fun with if there were just men alive? But boys, then a very important part of our lives would be missing if there were no girls on earth. What else could live show us every day but that WE are the more intelligent, nice, polite, caring, loving, peaceful "human beings" So god's a GUY!
(M.S.)
Boys will our boys ever grow up and become real adults? It's a question we, the female group, are occupied with all the time. Take a look at them: In the breaks and in their free time they're always fighting with each other, it seems like they will never be able to just sit somewhere together talking on a higher level. So what the hell is going on in their minds? Is their brain separated in only two parts? One for football and one for girls? Wouldn't our world be a lot more peaceful if there were just women alive? But girls, then a very important part of our lives would be missing if there were no men on earth: What else could life show us every day but that WE are the more intelligent human beings? So god must have been a WOMAN?
Girls are one of the topics I don't understand. Some of them are kind, most aren't. Most of the time I am confronted with crazy girls, disinterested in soccer and computers. This species of human beings is a very very BIG riddle to me.

Breaks in the summer Every summer it's a great pleasure for the pupils to lie in the sun on the schoolyard during the breaks and in the free lessons. It is very funny to stand in front of somebody preventing the sunlight to get through to him or her. The pupils then sometimes become very aggressive. When they get up to scare you off, you just take their place, lie down and laugh about them. We often just lie there and run someone down, or we watch the younger pupils running around the table-tennis board. These breaks are the best ones of the whole year.

Whenever something bad happens, for example the 11th September 2001, the death of our teacher Mr. K., every year the memory of the 9th November and of the Holocaust on January 27th , our school-community comes together in the assembly hall to talk about it, to remember what happened and to comfort each other. We are grateful to have the chance to cope with things like this because it is very unusual and not every school would do it in such a way. That way we think we keep good relations alive.

In 2002 we had to paint pictures for a "Metamorphoses" exhibition. We needed half a year to finish them. Some of us had to stay on in the afternoon to work on the project. We listened to music and had funny talks. Finally we were done and everything was shown at the exhibition. One part of the class had to show pictures and the others something from the wood work lessons. None of our pictures won prizes, only Julius won a prize for his wood work. Unfortunately he wasn't there to take the prize.

When we were in 7th grade we went on an outing through Berlin. We visited the Jewish Museum. Hannes went by tram for the first time. After that we were at a very big Jewish cemetery. We had to wear 'Kipas' and we took lots of photos. After the cemetery we went to McD's. Hannes bought menu 4 but he didn't eat his two cheeseburgers immediately. Instead he unpacked them in the zoo two hours later. Everybody was envious. We did many other things and also played soccer. All in all it was a funny day. A special thanks to Mrs. Hartmann for the wonderful time.

My first encounter with a special teacher It was on a school Saturday in 1998. I had been ill the day before, but decided to go to school. After the third lesson I felt sick and asked my form teacher if I could call my grand-parents, because I wanted them to pick me up as soon as possible. Although it was during the lesson I didn't expect that someone would notice a little "Sextaner" like I was. But one teacher did. He shouted at me why I was out in the hall. He was so aggressive that I got a shock for a life-time. Maybe I had met him before, but this was the first encounter I remember.

In September 2000 there was a party at Anne's house in Postbruch, which is near Straußberg. We went there by S-Bahn. It's a holiday home and it's only 200 or 300 metres from a lake which it is forbidden to drive a motorboat on, so it is very clean and nice. The party was from 6pm to 6am so most of us didn't get any sleep that night. We chilled out, listened to music and had a barbecue the whole night. We also swam in the lake. It was the best party this class ever had and we all enjoyed it very much.
